Nothing's first AI gadget arrives in December, and I don't want it to be another Humane AI Pin – Digital Trends

I’ve reached a point where every new AI gadget announcement feels like a solution in search of a problem. So when Nothing hinted at its first AI-native device, I wasn’t exactly excited, but I was curious.
Nothing CEO Carl Pei said on Wednesday that the company’s first AI-native product ships sooner than you’d expect. The device ships next month, which means December 2026. However, that is the extent of the information we know (via Carl Pei on X).
Here’s the whole confirmed list: it’s a tool, built with the “personality and care” Nothing is known for. I can’t help but think about the company’s signature see-through design and a white or gray finish.
What’s a bit cryptic for me, however, is Pei’s statement about the device’s screen. Nothing’s CEO says that the device “has no new screen.” So, does that mean that we’re waiting for a screen-less device? Or will we see a screen that we’re familiar with? Only Pei and the company’s engineering team know that for now.
Pei adds that the AI-first device “couldn’t have been an app.” That sounds like Nothing believes that the software deserves its own physical hardware, but nothing more than that.
The only visual is a picture of what looks like a rectangular device’s corner (similar to a curved smartphone corner). For now, the name, price, and exact date are still secret.
Pei argues that the race to recreate AI’s iPhone moment, whether a pendant, pin, or pair of glasses, is premature because major technology shifts often begin in the workplace. He also highlights a “context gap”: AI models may be capable, but they know little about your daily life.
That hints at a device that captures what happens around you, though Nothing hasn’t confirmed it. That’s guesswork, so keep your wallet closed until Nothing shows its hand.
I’ve watched the Humane AI Pin and Rabbit R1 struggle after launch, so pitching this as a work tool instead of a lifestyle gadget looks like Nothing managing expectations early, and I respect that.
Smartphones have become so big these days that finding one you can comfortably use with one hand is almost a challenge. And if you miss the days when phones were smaller, easier to carry around, and came with batteries you could replace yourself, a new Android phone might catch your attention.
It’s called the Enough Phone, and it’s a compact Android smartphone that doesn’t try to squeeze in every feature imaginable. Instead, it focuses on the basics: a small display, decent hardware, and even a removable battery. The company has now launched a Kickstarter campaign, where early supporters can reserve one for $399.
Dropped calls are one of those annoyances we have all learned to live with. You drive through a dead zone or walk into the wrong corner of your house, and suddenly your call is gone. SpaceX wants to fix that, and it has picked Qualcomm to help.
Qualcomm has announced that SpaceX will use its Dragonwing Cellular Infrastructure platforms to build Starlink Mobile, a nationwide terrestrial 5G network in the United States. In simple terms, Qualcomm’s technology will power Starlink’s cell towers on the ground.
Apple has released iOS 27.3 developer beta 1, and it packs several useful features, including an adaptive dark mode in Safari, vertical tabs, new StandBy mode clocks and calendar widgets, and more. But one of the coolest features Apple hid in this update is a new way to record yourself singing karaoke. It’s called Selfie Sing, and it turns your iPhone into a pocket-sized karaoke studio.
What is Selfie Sing in Apple Music?
