SWANTON, Ohio (WTVG) – Police in Swanton said the person at the center of a shelter in place alert was taken into custody late Sunday night.
There is no more immediate threat the public, according to an update from Swanton Police Chief John Trejo around 11:20 p.m. Sunday night.
Landon Presnell, 23, of Swanton, is suspected of discharging a firearm, hitting an occupied vehicle in the area of the 700 block of North Main Street.
He was taken to the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio.
Police earlier in the night asked residents to stay inside and lock their doors while authorities searched for someone they believed was “potentially armed and dangerous.”
The police department has not yet publicly disclosed the name of the person in question or why they are thought to be dangerous, but said additional information will be released.
“We sincerely appreciate the community’s patience, cooperation, and understanding throughout this incident,” a statement from Chief Trejo said.
The police department first announced the public safety alert around 9:45 p.m. Sunday night while investigators searched for the person in the area of North Main Street (State Hwy. 64) and Valley Woods Drive.
Residents were asked to stay inside and shelter-in-place. That order has since been lifted.
