“We are not ready for this…” Quiver Distribution has revealed the official trailer for an indie sci-fi thriller film titled The Outer Threat, marking the feature directorial debut of Canadian producer William Woods. The film is ready for viewing on VOD starting in July this summer, following up on the UFO craze ongoing with Disclosure Day. Daniel, an astrophysicist, discovers alien life. Of course! It’s real! They are definitely out there… After alerting his team, he finds himself and his family being chased by a mysterious pursuer. Their escape for their lives tests the limits between cosmic truth and paranoia. The journey becomes more challenging over time, until there is no clear distinction between scientific discovery and humanity’s fear, culminating in a dramatic confrontation that tests knowledge of science, comprehension, and survival. The film stars Constance Wu, Mark O’Brien, and William Fichtner. This looks almost exactly like the plot of Disclosure Day – a family goes on the run to try and get the truth out about aliens before some shadowy government force takes them out. Actually this might turn out even more intriguing than Spielberg’s movie.

After making a groundbreaking extraterrestrial discovery, astrophysicists Daniel and Michelle are forced to flee from home with their family — pursued through the countryside by a relentless and anonymous assailant. As their flight unfolds, the line between cosmic revelation and human paranoia blurs, leading to a tense & emotional confrontation that challenges the boundaries of understanding, science, and survival. The Outer Threat, formerly titled The Embers and the Stars, is both written and directed by Canadian indie producer / filmmaker William Woods, making his feature directorial debut after producing many other films including Mean Dreams, Hammer, Spinster, The King Tide. Produced by Maddy Falle, Allison White & Albert Shin. This hasn’t premiered at any festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. Quiver Distr. debuts Woods’ The Outer Threat film direct-to-VOD starting July 10th, 2026 coming soon this summer. Curious?
