A 32-year-old man was arrested for attempted murder in the second degree today in connection with an injured 70-year-old who died tonight at a hospital.
Just before 3:30 p.m., District 5 patrol officers responded to a disturbance in the Liliha area involving the 32-year-old man who was in need of evaluation. The man was transported by Honolulu Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital.
At about 4:30 p.m., officers learned of a related incident and responded to a residence on Nalanui Street. Upon arrival, officers located the 70-year-old man suffering from injuries. He was treated and transported to an area hospital.
Patrol officers determined the incidents were related and later arrested the 32-year-old man.
Just before 8:30 p.m., the 70-year-old victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
As a result, the case has been reclassified as murder, and the Honolulu Police Department’s Homicide Detail has assumed the investigation.
