Polling places are open today, June 2 from 7 a.m.–8 p.m. for the primary election.
Find your polling place
A primary election determines which candidates advance to the November general election.
Primaries in the State of Iowa are called closed primaries, which means a voter must be registered with either the Democratic or Republican party to vote in the primary. Each party has a separate ballot. However, you can request the ballot you want to vote. If the party whose ballot you request does not match the party affiliation on your voter registration, you can change your registration.
If you are not yet registered to vote but want to vote in today’s primary election, you can register to vote through the Election Day registration process.
Learn more on the Election Services webpage.
