Ohio State football a massive favorite to open the year vs. Ball State – Buckeyes Wire

We are starting to see some college football betting lines published by certain sportsbooks, and it’s more than just the highest exposure games. Yes, the Texas and Indiana games on the road have point spreads out, but now we also have betting odds for Ohio State’s first game at home against Ball State.
According to our friends at Draft Kings, Ohio State is a whopping -49.5 favorite on Saturday, Sep. 5. That’s a massive line for any game, especially against a team — any team — that is in the FBS. Heck, that would be a huge spread against an FCS opponent.
The Cardinals and Buckeyes don’t have much history, and in fact, have no history. When the two kick off for the first contest of the 2026 season, it’ll be the first time the two programs have met on the gridiron. We doubt that Ball State would be satisfied with merely keeping the game within 50 points.
We’ll have more betting odds and lines as we move closer to the season, but the fact that some of these are beginning to trickle out means that the Ohio State football season is getting ever so closer.
