The 9-1-1: Nashville actress said the key comes down to just two words — “Don’t leave.” Williams-Paisley, 54, explained that the advice didn’t originally come from her own experience, but from another well-known Hollywood actress.
“I heard Jamie Lee Curtis say recently, the secret is ‘Don’t leave.’ I thought that was really, actually brilliant,” Williams-Paisley told Fox News Digital earlier this month. She was attending the TCM Classic Film Festival in Hollywood, where she appeared at a screening of her 1991 film Father of the Bride. The film also starred the late Diane Keaton.
She said that idea stuck with her because of how straightforward it is. “Yeah, just know there’s gonna be ups and downs and don’t give up. That was our secret,” she added.
Williams-Paisley and Paisley, 53, have built a long-lasting relationship while managing demanding careers. The singer, known for hits like Waitin’ on a Woman, is preparing to head out on tour this summer, while Williams-Paisley said her own schedule has been especially busy lately.

She continued, “And right now I’m busier and, you know, he’s about to start a tour this summer, which will make him busy. But when we have the downtime, we really make the most of it.”
The couple shares two sons, William “Huck” Huckleberry, 19, and Jasper Warren, 17. They marked their most recent anniversary on March 3, and Williams-Paisley said the occasion included a thoughtful surprise from her husband.

This isn’t the first time Williams-Paisley has spoken about their relationship. In 2021, after celebrating 18 years of marriage, she said they prioritize keeping things light and focusing on shared moments.
“We record the meaningful moments, the best laughs. That’s a big part of our relationship — focusing on the laughter and keeping a sense of play,” she said at the time.
Paisley echoed that sentiment, adding, “A lot of married couples would rather do anything but spend the evening together. That’s not the case in our house.”
