OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) — Three people are dead and several others were injured after a driver barreled into pedestrians in Oakland Saturday night.
The crash happened around 11:15 p.m. near International Boulevard and 85th Avenue by the East Bay Market Liquor store.
Audio obtained by ABC7 Eyewitness News from the scene could be heard by Oakland Fire Department dispatch: "Right now, we're looking at four DOAs, two critical waiting on 26… 26 is getting on scene… and waiting on… we got two ambulances coming."
According to Oakland police, three pedestrians died at the scene.
Paramedics transported three other pedestrians to local hospitals. Some victims are stable and others are in critical condition, police said.
The driver of the vehicle was also taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

"He hit this blue car right here, and I guess he hit the gas and went even faster and went down the whole sidewalk and just sideswiped all those people. And he took off running…I saw him hit this car. I seen him coming, but there was nothing I could do. He was going too fast," said one witness.
Michael Turner was hanging out with friends across the street from where the crash happened. His nephew and friends were struck after the driver hit a parked car.
"You heard tires screeching, then all of a sudden you heard a loud bang," Turner said. "When he hit the first car, it sounded like he stepped on the gas even harder. He hit the car, he stepped on the gas. You heard the engine roared, and he just took off right down the sidewalk."
The driver of the car, a juvenile, was arrested in connection with the incident, OPD said.
Police say the driver was speeding on 85th Avenue, and then turned onto International Boulevard, hitting a parked car and then several people in the area.

On Sunday afternoon, ABC7 Eyewitness News spoke with Shedrick Henry at Highland Hospital. His childhood friend is in very serious condition.
"We're praying for him. He's going through surgery," said Henry, who was badly shaken by the horrific crash. "It's horrible. It's a nightmare. It's a nightmare for the community. These are people's loved ones."
Oakland Mayor Barbara Lee issued a statement, writing:
"Oakland is mourning the lives lost in last night's tragic crash at International Boulevard and 85th Avenue in East Oakland. Our hearts are with the victims, their families, loved ones, and all of those impacted. Thank you to the Oakland Police Department, Oakland Fire Department, and our first responders."
Why the crash happened is still unclear. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor.
The incident is still under investigation.
On Sunday, Councilmember Noel Gallo said Oakland needs more police officers on the streets.
"It's very clear what we need to do to strengthen Oakland. When it comes to public safety. We need more officers Monday through Sunday, daytime and nighttime," Gallo said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Oakland Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit at (510) 777-8570. Additionally, if you have any videos or photos that could assist with the investigation, please send them to cidvideos@oaklandca.gov.
