Q: How has your journey within the organization shaped your vision for Cardinal Health’s role in strengthening healthcare systems across the region?
A: My career through Cardinal Health provided me with the ability to connect internally with different functions, enabling me to bring our global and international capabilities into alignment with the needs and growth objectives of Latin America. At the same time, it has given me a deep understanding of the region and its complexity.
Latin America is highly diverse , particularly when it comes to healthcare systems and market maturity. The challenge, and the opportunity, lies in how we generate value in each of these markets by leveraging our capabilities as a company while adapting to those local conditions. This perspective has shaped the regional strategy we are implementing across different countries, ensuring it is both consistent in ambition and flexible in delivery
Q: How does Cardinal Health’s approach in Latin America differ from its strategy in other international markets?
A: Our global strategy is unified, and grounded in delivering solutions that generate meaningful impact in healthcare outcomes. The key difference lies in the stage of market development of. We see a significant opportunity to contribute to the development of clinical standards throughout Latin America, bringing our global capabilities and implementing them in a way that responds to local needs.
We do this through a strong focus on clinical education,awareness-building, as well as the development of frameworks and practices that support informed decision-making and prevention.. Additionally, there are differences not only between Latin America and other regions, but also among countries within Latin America, depending on their level of development. Therefore, while our strategy remains consistent, we adapt its execution to each market. Our priority remains the same everywhere: delivering value, generating measurable impact, and keeping the patient at the center of everything we do..
Q: What actions are necessary to enhance prevention activities throughout Latin America?
A: Prevention plays a critical role in improving clinical outcomes, enhancing the quality of patient care, and ensuring the sustainability of healthcare systems. While progress is being made, there are still many opportunities to advance this agenda, and our priority is to contribute to that development. This transformation requires significant effort from all stakeholders within the healthcare sector.
We strongly believe that prevention is the right path forward. However, it must not only be recognized as a priority but also as a fundamental investment rather than a cost.
Q: Beyond prevention, what other trends are transforming the demand for healthcare services in Latin America, and how is Cardinal Health responding to these changes?
A: Across Latin America, healthcare spending continues to increase alongside improvements in access, driven by demographic shifts, epidemiological changes and the need to expand healthcare capacity. Both public initiatives and private investments have supported this evolution, , and progress varies across countries, with markets such as Brazil, Colombia, and Chile showing more advanced development compared to others.
This shift requires companies to move beyond simply offering products. At Cardinal Health, we are focused on building long-term relationships with our stakeholders, and aligning our propositions with their operational and clinical priorities. Healthcare providers operate in complex environments, facing challenges not only in clinical care but also in supply chain management and financial sustainability. Our role is to understand these challenges and provide solutions, supported as an example, by clinical education, that help improve processes and ultimately deliver better outcomes.
Q: What role does Mexico play within Cardinal Health’s regional strategy?
A: Mexico is a highly strategic market due to its scale, growth potential, and the opportunity to further develop clinical standards. We operate across both the private and public sectors, working collaboratively with healthcare institutions within existing regulatory and policy frameworks, supporting prevention initiatives through innovation, training, and strong logistical capabilities. Our objective is to contribute to better clinical outcomes and improved patient care.
Q: How has Cardinal Health’s presence evolved in Mexico, and what has driven its growth?
A: We are celebrating 10 years of commercial operations in Mexico this fiscal year. Over this period, we have experienced consistent year-over-year growth, driven by the development of our key focus categories. These include clinical priority areas such as  Venous thromboembolism (VTE) prevention, enteral nutrition safety and surgical and critical care.
This growth is supported by value-based approaches and strong commercial partnerships.
Q: How does a strong organizational culture contribute to Cardinal Health’s long-term growth in the region?
A:  Culture is the foundation of execution at Cardinal Health. We are guided by responsibility, agility, collaboration, and a shared purpose centered on the patient. By investing in local talent and continuous learning, we ensure our solutions deliver meaningful and sustainable impact.
Q: Which segments are expected to drive Cardinal Health’s growth in Latin America in the short term?
A: Latin America has significant potential for growth, as the expansion of healthcare services makes it an attractive market. Our strategy is focused on key portfolios where we see the greatest opportunity for acceleration, supported by our model of working with commercial partners to ensure coverage and presence across priority markets. We are also directly engaging with key accounts and focusing on high-impact solution segments, including areas such as VTE  prevention, enteral nutrition risk management, and surgical care .
