TRENDING:
Birthright Lake, Inc. in Mentor continued its pursuit of supporting and educating mothers with a new program they hope will become an annual event.
Birthright recently partnered with the Leadership Lake County Signature Class of 2026 to host its inaugural Mothers’ Wellness and Serenity Retreat, a day dedicated to supporting, restoring and uplifting the mothers served by the organization.
The Central YMCA in Painesville provided space for the April 18 event, and the retreat was designed and implemented by six members of the Signature Class as their year-long service project.
The free event welcomed Birthright mothers into a peaceful environment centered on wellness, education, relaxation and personal renewal.
The day’s offerings included guided meditation and relaxation sessions, childcare services, Catholic Charities Help Me Grow information, financial literacy education, CPR certification, vision board creation, self-defense awareness, skin health checks by Apex and self-care experiences.
Self-care items donated by area businesses were also given to each mom.
“This day reminded me that I matter too,” said one participating mother. “Birthright has supported me and my children every step of the way. If people could truly see what they do, they would understand how much it means to families like mine.”
Birthright Executive Director Janice Silvaroli said watching the mothers experience this day was “truly meaningful.”
“Thanks to Leadership Lake County, it was more than a day of service, it was a powerful expression of support, dignity and community.”
Birthright hopes to continue this retreat as an annual tradition, expanding opportunities for mothers to experience care, connection and renewal.
Community volunteers are welcomed to help support and grow future events.
“We are absolutely thrilled that the Leadership Lake County Class of 2026 chose Birthright for this special retreat,” said Christine Price, president of the Birthright board. “It was a beautiful day, filled with love, care and compassion for our moms, many of whom rarely have the opportunity to focus on themselves. We are so grateful to everyone who made it possible.”
According to a news release, Birthright continues to experience significant growth in community need, with services increasing by 18 percent this year. In the first quarter, Birthright has assisted 472 mothers and 668 infants and toddlers, providing essential resources and compassionate support to families across the community.
Birthright will host an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. May 8 for people to tour the facility and see firsthand the impact Birthright is making. It will be held at 7237 Industrial Park Blvd. in Mentor.
Guests will have the opportunity to meet volunteers and learn more about how Birthright supports mothers, infants and toddlers in the community and the impact donations and support makes to families in the community.
Attendees can bring a pack of diapers to be entered into a basket raffle.
