The appointees include the ambassadors to India, also accredited to Nepal and Bhutan; Belgium, also accredited to Luxembourg and serving as Vietnam’s Permanent Representative to the European Union; Switzerland, also accredited to Liechtenstein; the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea; and Kazakhstan, also accredited to Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Georgia.
Mr. Lam urged them to uphold their competence, intellect, and sense of responsibility in deepening Vietnam’s relations with partner countries in a substantive, stable, sustainable, and effective manner. He stressed that foreign affairs must be closely aligned with national development, helping to overcome challenges, mobilize external resources, and enhance Vietnam’s international standing.
“We pursue a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification and multilateralization. Vietnam is a friend and a reliable partner of the international community. Therefore, it is essential to deepen relations with other countries, especially neighboring nations, major partners, strategic partners, and traditional friends,” said Mr. Lam.
“A crucial requirement is to avoid strategic misunderstandings in the context of intensifying global competition. We must persistently build trust, maintain dialogue, promote cooperation, and skillfully manage differences, while firmly safeguarding Vietnam’s legitimate interests.”
The Vietnamese top leader also called on the ambassadors to further leverage Vietnam’s soft power to promote the country’s image as a dynamic, culturally rich nation ready to be involved in regional and global issues.
