The Canadian Taxpayers Federation, a government waste watchdog and taxpayer advocacy group, is calling out Canada’s foreign affairs ministry after records revealed the department spent $59,000 to decorate its consulate in Milan, Italy.
The records obtained primarily through an Order Paper Question in the House of Commons by Conservative MP Vincent Ho show pieces of art include an “upcycled” pink cowboy boot purchased at a thrift store and a mitten on a stick.
