On Thursday night, Jeremiyah Love was selected with the third overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, landing with the Arizona Cardinals. And by virtue of his selection, he will make league history when he inks his rookie contract.
The former Notre Dame running back will be slated to make $50.5 million fully guaranteed on his rookie contract, which will make him the running back making the most guaranteed money in NFL history.
Love is also the first running back to be selected in the top five of the NFL Draft since 2018, when Saquon Barkley went No. 2 overall to the Giants. During his collegiate career, Love finished his junior season as a unanimous All-American and the Doak Walker Award winner, rushing for 1,371 yards and 18 touchdowns. He was also a 1,000-yard rusher as a sophomore.
After his selection, Love addressed the history he hopes to make with the Cardinals, and while he didn’t address his historic contract, he did talk about the legacy he hopes to leave during his NFL career.
“I just want to be the best version of myself possible,” Love said. “I want to leave a legacy of hard work and dedication. I’m dedicated to a goal of getting to the end of my career and being one of the best running backs to come through the game.”
