KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Over 150 students in grades 8-12 and their teachers attended a Careers in a Changing Climate event at Western Michigan University (WMU) on Wednesday.
The event, hosted by Kalamazoo RESA Career Connect, featured working professionals speaking about how climate change has affected their careers.
"As they're thinking about what careers they want and where they're going to go after high school, it's really important for them to think about the ways that the climate is impacting all of life and not just a science-y thing that they talked about in one class," said Lori Henrickson, MiSTEM director for Southwest Michigan.
Panelists were from a variety of backgrounds, including engineering, manufacturing, politics and more, showing how universal the effects of climate change are on all aspects of life.
News Channel 3 meteorologist Will Haenni served as a panelist at the event.
