Rising fuel and fertilizer costs are adding strain to an already challenging farm economy, according to a nationwide survey conducted by the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF).

Nearly six in 10 farmers reported their finances are worse than a year ago, reflecting a bleak profitability outlook as farmers begin planting their 2026 crops.
