In the 1990s, HBO’s Tales from the Crypt was inescapable.
The anthology series based itself on the popular 1950s comics of the same name, bringing their macabre tales to the screen in a weekly format.
With the killer production team of Richard Donner, David Giler, Walter Hill, Joel Silver, and Robert Zemeckis, it’s little surprise the show became a cultural phenomenon.
Far from being a quaint little horror tale, each episode of Tales from the Crypt was lavishly produced and steeped in atmosphere.
The series attracted some of the biggest names of the time to star in episodes, including Michael J. Fox, Patricia Arquette, Demi Moore, Meat Loaf, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Brooke Sheilds, and Catherine O’Hara. Of course, the cast roster could go on and on, the show was just that popular.
Of course, Tales from the Crypt has been re-run by countless networks over the years, as well as releasing to home media.
But, rather bizarrely, the legendary series has never been released to a streaming platform.
However, that’s all about to change, as Shudder have announced the addition of all seven seasons of Tales from the Crypt as part of their “Halfway to Halloween” celebrations.
Season One is set to debut on the streaming service on May 1, with an additional season landing every Friday for the following six weeks. Come June 12th, all seven seasons of Tales from the Crypt will be available to stream on Shudder.
This is undoubtedly music to the ears of so many horror fans the world over. Now you can binge this classic show until your heart is content, or make the perfect playlist for Halloween Night.
Happy viewing, folks!
